The Role of the Mediator

Family Mediation Services

The mediator is a neutral third party with no interest in the outcome of the dispute. The role of the mediator is to help the parties communicate, identify issues and evaluate potential solutions. Mediators cannot provide legal advice, but parties may attend mediation with (or without) their own lawyers. If parties are not represented, they may attend the mediation conference alone.
